I recently had the opportunity of listening to several members of a church community, discussing the sudden upsurge of “Grace Teachings” that have begun to dominate the airways of the Christian television networks. There seemed to be a great amount of dissension regarding what each considered to be the tenets of God’s grace. The smaller minority stated their concerns regarding the extent to which they felt God’s Grace covers those who profess salvation, while living sinful lives characterized with deceitfulness, hypocrisy and total disrespect for God. Many said that they personally knew members within their own congregation, who were living double lives, that paralleled those in the world referred to in the bible as “the sons and daughters of disobedience”, who are influenced by their father the “prince of the power of the air” (Satan). The volume of accusations being made was tremendous, including such things as, tax fraud, marital infidelity and promiscuity, gambling, alcoholism, domestic violence, business fraud, embezzlement and the use of derogatory language just to name a few. In light of the precepts of the grace teachings being preached, many expressed feelings of total bewilderment.
After much debate, one woman asked a question and made a series of comments that basically represented a summation of what the general consensus of confusion was all about. She asked, “Why are the ministers who are preaching the “Grace” Message”, creating such a one sided view? They keep telling their listeners that anyone who is saved does not have to be concerned about feelings of guilt and condemnation when they sin, because the shed blood of Jesus has already taken care of any sin that they committed in the past, present, or future.” She said, “They make matters worst by telling those who sin, that all they need to do is speak the words, “I am the righteousness of God, and just keep on stepping.” She concluded almost on the verge of tears saying, “They make it seem as if our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ suffered and died on the cross, only to provide a sort of “escape card” for those who have sinned, allowing them to freely act and behave in any sinful manner they desire without having to pay any consequences.”
As I listened to the woman speak, Holy Spirit brought to my remembrance a Bible scripture in Galatians 6:7 which says, “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.” A few seconds later He gave me a second scripture in 1 John 1:9 that says, “If we confess our sins, He (God) is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Over the years I have heard many ministers use this scripture in reference to those who are unsaved. But Holy Spirit revealed to me that this particular scripture is to be used specifically for those who have consciously made the decision to humble themselves by asking Jesus Christ to come into their lives as their personal Lord and Savior, to receive God’s precious gift of Salvation. I asked Him why the scripture was only for those who are saved, and He explained it to me in such a simple, clear and yet profound way, that I would never have reason to be swayed by anyone else’s interpretation. He said, “Those who are unsaved are sinners who possess the sinful nature of the first Adam, therefore they are“unrighteous” and out of fellowship with GOD. When sinners acknowledge their sinful state and humble themselves by confessing Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, to receive God’s gift of salvation, they become sons or daughters of Almighty God, who justifies them and makes them righteous, They are also baptized into the Body of Christ gaining fellowship with God. There is no other way for sinners to receive these benefits. When a saved person commits sin, they retain everything, except their fellowship with Father God. Holy Spirit reminded me how GOD turned His back to Jesus Christ, “the Son of His Love” when He was on the cross at Calvary, because He bore the sin of the world. He asked me, “Do you believe that God, is going to treat anyone else any different than He treated His own Son when He was “stained” with the filthiness of sin? He continued by saying, “Those who commit sins must actually go to God, and ask forgiveness for the sins they have committed. It is the only way that they will be first forgiven, and then cleansed of the stain of unrighteousness that they have become soiled with.” In my mind’s eye I could actually see a huge throne with the image of a person standing at the foot of it, their arms stretched upward, wearing white clothes that were literally filthy and soiled with dirt, slime and what seemed to be maggots crawling on them. The maggots made me cringe and think about death, and the separation that it causes. The person stood in the presence of an immensely impenetrable bright essence that seemed to be gradually engulfing them for a period of time. Gradually it began to dissipate from around them, and I could see that they now stood there completely cleansed of all the filthiness, with their clothes slightly glowing. Holy Spirit whispered to me, “They have been forgiven and cleansed.”
Almighty God has by His Grace, provided the entire human race with the opportunity to be blessed with eternal life and time with Him in heaven in the future. His ultimate desire for those who become His saved, redeemed sons and daughters, is that they will truly appreciate and understand the seriousness of the sacrifices that have been made for their benefit. Upon receiving Salvation, they become new creations (in spirit) through Christ Jesus, with newly regenerated spirits, that are immediately sealed by Holy Spirit until the day of redemption. When Jesus Christ returns, their bodies will be redeemed, transformed and conformed to the image of His body. Then they will all stand before the Judgment Seat of “The Lord of Righteousness,” Jesus Christ the Son of Almighty God, who will judge each for all that they have done, whether good or bad since they have received Salvation. God has made available to all in the earth, the provision of His Holy Word, the Bible. Those who are saved have been informed through this word, of the necessity of daily renewing their minds. In Romans 12:2 it reads, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” God’s Holy Word is the “food” that God has provided for His saved/reborn sons and daughters, to feed the seed of righteousness (the spirit part of their tripartite being), that He has placed inside the human body. As the spirit is daily fed more and more of this word (that contains righteousness), an overflow begins to take place into the soul (the second part of their tripartite being), which contains the thoughts, feelings, emotions, desires and will) that control the body. Ultimately, the righteousness of the soul begins to overflow into the body, so that the results of its’ manifestation will be reflected in the actions and personality of the individual, for the world to see so that God receives all the glory, honor and praise.
God loves His sons and daughters with a very special kind of love that is far beyond our human capacity to clearly comprehend. His heartfelt desire, is that they will ultimately reciprocate His love, through the sincere relinquishing and sacrificing of their (souls) personal wills, desires and plans, in exchange for those which He preordained for their lives before the foundation of the world, that the fulfillment of His Divine Plan will be manifested on earth, and in eternity.
In the Book of Matthew 16:26, Jesus asks the following questions; “For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? In 1 Peter 1: 3-9, Peter spoke about “the inheritance incorruptible and undefiled that does not fade away, reserved in heaven” for those who are saved, that are “kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time, "receiving the end of your faith – the Salvation of your souls”.
Did you catch that? Jesus asked, “What will a man give in exchange for his soul?” Peter said that there is an inheritance, incorruptible and undefiled that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for those who have through faith received Salvation. In the later part of Roman 12:2 it says that “……… God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.” The end of that faith (the reward, the inheritance) will be the Salvation of their souls. This is the reward that Almighty God has given His Son Jesus Christ, all power and authority to provide for those who are willing to make the ultimate sacrifice. The Book of Revelation refers to them as “The Overcomers.”
Everyone who has received Salvation through faith, has been promised eternal life and time in heaven with God. But only the “overcomers” who have proven themselves to be obedient to the point of submitting to the ultimate sacrifice required, will achieve the Salvation of their souls. Then all three parts of their tripartite being will be blameless, glorified and worthy to spend the 1000 Year Millennial Reign with the greatest reward of all, THE PRIZE”, Jesus Christ who is “The Rest".
1 Thessalonians 5:23 says, “Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body
be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
